First Med Urgent Care: Fever Information

When you get a fever, it’s no fun as it is usually followed up with physical discomfort. First Med Urgent Care is open this summer to help with patients suffering from fevers. Generally, a fever comes on due to some sort of infection. A quick search on WebMD will tell you that a fever is not always a dangerous risk, but there are times when a rising temperature should be something to watch closely.

This summer, you should take precaution when being active outdoors. The extreme summer temperatures could cause heat-related injuries such as heat stroke. As a result of this, the body is no longer able to control its temperature and a fever could settle in. Another concern for staff at First Med Urgent Care is a high temperature in children.

Children with a fever can have the following symptoms:

•    Sore throat
•    Fussiness
•    Poor appetite
•    Overly Drowsy
•    Cough
•    Ear pain
•    Diarrhea

Adults can suffer similar symptoms as children. It is important to note that if you have an infant with a temperature over 100, you should consider this a medical emergency. High fever in young children can cause seizures. If you or your child has any of the following symptoms the doctors at First Med Urgent Care are here to help.
