Stay Focused While Studying & Have Less Stress
Have you ever sat down to study at home, but then you found yourself getting distracted by the littlest noise or the dirty surroundings that simply must be cleaned before you can continue? The struggle for students trying to study is all too real! Then, students that can’t study get all stressed out. Stress causes illness and no one wants that, right? What if we told you that based on our urgent care team’s research we’ve concluded that the following guidelines to stay focused will actually allow you to have an easier time and cause you less stress.
Let’s examine these tips a little closer.
1.) Set Study Goals: If you sit down to study and your brain feels scrambled then it’s time to set a focus. Set some serious goals for yourself. Maybe for you that mean making an outline of your study plans or a checkbox list and crossing items off as you go. Not only will checking tasks off of your list make you feel accomplished, but it will help you stay organized!
2.) Schedule Out Your Week: Chances are, you’re taking more than one class so you’re going to need more than one day of planning. Take time to schedule out your entire week, including putting in times for breaks, snacks, meals, and a set bedtime. Establishing a routine is key to staying on top of your studies.
3.) Don’t Shirk Responsibility: Yes, you might want to be out with friends on a weeknight, but you’re in school for a reason. This is especially true if you’re at a University where you’ve paid good money to be there. Don’t give up all social life activities, but certainly do learn to say no to your friends when you have a lot on your “plate”.
Keeping a well thought out plan can actually help you with more than just staying focused on studying. In the long run, you could begin to see that’s it’s easy to block out “x” amount of time for sports, movies, and other recreational outings. Staying focused eases the mind, provides you opportunities to keep your grades up, and still leaves you just enough time to enjoy being a student.
