Flu- Urgent Care

The Flu Season Begins Again

First Med Urgent Care Treating The Flu

Every year influenza (flu) statistics are released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health to indicate that society is still greatly impacted by the illness. Hundreds of people are hospitalized and several people have died from the infection. Of course, if someone is already sick with it they can spread the flu to others even before they feel sick. Do you have the flu?

Here are some symptoms that are common signs you have this infection:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Body aches
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Fatigue

While some people do get very serious symptoms that need treatment, others may experience only mild illness and do not need medical care or antiviral drugs. If you get sick and have mild symptoms you should stay home and avoid contact with other people except to get medical care. If you’re not certain about the severity of your illness, please feel free to come in and get tested. It’s better to be safe, after all.

First Med Urgent Care has already seen patients test positive for the flu this year. It can happen any time of the year, but the fall and winter months tend to be the worst. As always, the best way to avoid all of this is to be proactive in getting your flu shots. No one wants to be part of the statistics of 2016! Don’t wait for the attack of the flu season to get to you. Protect you and your family members, today.

First Med Urgent Care is prepared to help the public protect against the flu with immunizations. All 6 of our locations are stocked with ample supply of the vaccine. We are open 8:00am to 7:30pm, 7 days a week. There is no appointment necessary so you can just drop in whenever you have the time.
